10 Ways to De-stressing

Who knew that all these #nationalholidays would be the inspiration for many of June's #LoveNotes!? Today is #InternationalBathDay. Real talk, y'all. This is a day that people are really partaking in around the world. Who would've known?

While I've never been a true fan of baths, I realize that many people choose to take baths as a way to de-stress from the hectic ways of every day living. (People have probably taken more baths in the past two months than they have in the past two years because of all the uncertainty of the world right now.) #InternationalBathDay made me consider what I do to de-stress. Though baths may never be it for me, I do have some recommendations that you may want to consider yourself!

10 Ways to De-stress

1. Go for a walk.

  1. (Fresh air is always a great way to calm your nerves and slow that heart rate. It's practically summer, so the weather is perfect!)

2. Start your day earlier.

(This one isn't for everyone, and that's okay! I've found that waking up earlier to complete my to-do list elevates stress that would occur later in the day. There's so much you can get done before the rest of the world is even opening their eyelids!)

3. Hug someone.

(This is one of my favorites! One of my favorite quotes says, "We need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth." Hugging someone, especially someone you love, serves as an unspoken reminder that you are supported and loved by them.)

4. Unplug.

(I can't say this enough. GET OFF YOUR PHONE FOR A LITTLE. Enjoy the entire world around you instead of the one that is in your hand. I swear life is so much more beautiful when you're looking up and not down.)

5. Start a craft.

(This is something some may not like to do because they aren't too creative. But, crafts can look like a variety of different things. Maybe you're a stickers and glue kind of person like me or perhaps you're into building things. Whatever it may be, getting your hands on things that you enjoy are absolute ways to de-stress!)

6. Scream and then breathe.

(Wait, what!? Yes, my friend! You read that correctly. Screaming releases a lot of pint up emotions that you may be feeling, and trust me, it feels so great once you do it! Breathing is something that we overlook far too often, but it's crucial. Once you remind yourself to breathe, you level out the chaos that's happening internally and you become more focused.)

7. Organize your life at the beginning of the week.

(This is something I hear all the time. The reality is that our lives are busy. We work, we make time for family, time for our passions, time to watch tv, time to sleep, time, time, time, time. WOAH! You probably do at least 6/7 things in a single day. I've found that organizing at the beginning of the week decreases the amount of stress you'll feel. If you know what the day is going to look like prior to, you may be more at ease!)

8. Color.

(It doesn't matter how old you are! You are never too old to grab a book and your colored pencils!)

9. Laugh.

(This is a favorite of mine! Who doesn't love laughing!? Studies have said that when you laugh, it increases the "good" cholesterol. Also, sometimes you just need to chuckle at how ridiculous life can be!)

10. Take a shower (or bath), throw your favorite pj's on, grab your favorite snack, and turn your show on.

(Relaxing and self-care are the best forms of de-stressing. Your to-do list can wait. Your work can wait. But your mental, emotional, and physical being cannot.)

Life is short, y'all! We don't need to spend it being stressed to the max. Take care of yourself, protect your solar plexus, and be in the moment.

May your day be ever filled with love, light, and of course, an abundance of chicken tenders💜🌻✨
